Frequently asked questions

What is chargeable weight?

It is the higher of the gross weight and the volumetric weight. Carriers always bill on the larger of the two figures.

How is sea LCL chargeable weight calculated?

On a weight or measure basis, where 1 CBM is treated as 1,000 kg. A 2 CBM shipment weighing 300 kg is billed as 2,000 kg.

Why does my invoice show more than I weighed?

Because the carrier used the volumetric weight. Reducing carton size, or compressing the load, is often the cheapest way to cut freight cost on light bulky goods.
