CBM Calculator
Calculate the cubic volume of your cargo in CBM (cubic metres) from carton dimensions, and see the equivalent cubic feet, volumetric weight and how many cartons fit into 20ft, 40ft and 40ft high cube containers.
Formula
CBM = Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) x Quantity
Frequently asked questions
What is CBM in shipping?
CBM stands for cubic metre. It is the volume your cargo occupies and the base unit used to price ocean LCL freight. One CBM is a space of 1m x 1m x 1m.
How do I calculate CBM?
Multiply length, width and height in metres, then multiply by the number of identical cartons. If you measure in centimetres, divide the result by 1,000,000.
Do carriers bill on CBM or on weight?
Whichever is greater. Ocean LCL is usually billed on a weight/measure basis where 1 CBM is treated as 1,000 kg, while air freight uses a volumetric divisor, typically 6000.
